Dr. Julia Brogdon Purnell Scholars

The Baton Rouge Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has established a scholarship in the honor of Baton Rouge Chapter Charter member, Third Chapter President, and Seventh National President of The Links, Incorporated, Dr. Julia Brogdon Purnell.  Dr. Purnell was a dedicated and accomplished educator, dynamic leader, champion of civil rights, and devoted Christian. In honor of her service and contribution to The Links, Incorporated as an organization, and her commitment to education, two $2,500.00 scholarships are awarded to exceptional female students majoring in education who meet the requisite GPA requirements.

HBCU Scholars

The Baton Rouge (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incoporated awards book scholarships in the amount of $500 in support of the National HBCU Initiative of The Links, Incorporated. The goal of the National HBCU initiative is to implement and increase the retention and graduation rates of students attending HBCUs. Our book scholarships are awarded to students at Southern University majoring in STEM fields who meet the requisite GPA requirements.
